6 hectares of Corton Grand Cru, including one Monopole

In 1857, Jules Senard, great grandfather of the current owner created the original “Corton Clos Des Meix”, a Grand Cru vineyard of 2.50 hectares, which has been a “Monopole” ever since.
Over the years and 6 generations, the Domaine has grown to 10 hectares, of which 6 hectares are classified as Grand Cru, such as Corton Clos Du Roi, Corton Bressandes and Corton Paulands. This impressive surface of Grand Cru is what makes the Domaine Comte Senard so prestigious and highly reputed.

Since the year 2000, Lorraine has followed on from her father Phillipe SENARD. Her first white wine vinification was with the 2002 vintage and the 2005 vintage for the red.

Lorraine’s approach is very much inspired from the previous generations’ respect in keeping the Corton spirit alive: deep robe, red fruit aromas, tannic and powerful
Domaine Comte Senard insist on taking great care during all phases of the vine’s natural cycle and remain respectful to both plant and its environment. They have opted for a sustainable-organic approach that best suits their convictions: the non-use of herbicides and insecticides, sustainable grass-covering and ploughing techniques throughout the Domaine.
At the Domaine, whole grape bunch winemaking is used, according to the vintage’s quality and maturity. For example, the 2009 vintage was entirely made with whole grape bunches. The wines are aged in oak barrels. The Grands Crus are aged for 18 months before bottling.
The Domaine Comte Senard also produces the rare Corton blanc, which is different from the Corton Charlemagne. Corton blanc represents only 4% of the overall Corton AOC, with less than 10 producers in total!
